About this Event

Designing with Nature

Permaculture is a design system based on observing natural patterns and applying them to create sustainable human habitats. In this one-day introduction, you'll learn the core principles and start seeing your landscape with new eyes.

What We'll Cover

  • The ethics and principles of permaculture
  • Reading the landscape: water, sun, soil, and zones
  • Basic design techniques
  • Tour of Soul Fire Forest's permaculture systems

Hands-On Components

We'll spend time walking the land, observing patterns, and practicing basic design exercises. You'll leave with a framework for assessing and designing your own space, whether it's a small urban plot or a larger rural property.

Taught by Maya Okonkwo, certified permaculture designer.
